THIS COURSE IS AN OVERVIEW OF PROFESSIONAL ROLES OF A SUPERVISING COUNSELOR.

PRESENTERS WILL DISCUSS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN EFFECTIVE SUPERVISOR WHILE EXPLORING POTENTIAL PITFALLS OF NAVIGATING SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS. A REVIEW OF THEORETICAL APPROACHES WILL BE DISCUSSED AS WELL AS UPDATES ON NEW STRATEGIES AND CHALLENGES FACING THE SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP.

Objectives:

  • Participants will discuss and differentiate the varying tasks and roles of a clinical supervisor.

  • Participants will be able to identify and evaluate varying theoretical approaches to clinical supervision within the mental health field.

  • Participants will be able to recognize effective characteristics and qualities of a counseling supervisor.

  • Participants will be able to identify a minimum of 3 ethical codes that relate to the role of clinical supervisor.
